Dear Esteemed Readers,

As some of you know, and many of you have guessed from the title, I returned home to Gilroy after coming down with malaria in Rwanda (I actually got it two weeks prior, which seems to be either in the Dubai airport [unlikely] or Nairobi).  Soooo, after two days of hellish fever, sweating, and swollen liver, I bought a ticket home.  I got some great treatment in Uganda, and am doing much better.  In fact, everything seems to be back to normal, and I'm just going to go into the doctor for some follow up.  Very strange that I got malaria considering I was taking what are considered to be the best pills...Malarone.  The only thing I can think of is that I started taking the pills about 8 hours late, or that I somehow missed a dose (strange because I took them every day with breakfast).  In any case, I am back in the Bay Area for a few weeks before flying to Melbourne to do the whole Fulbright thing.  This does not by any means signal the end of my blogging...I have a lot of catching up to do, and will probably try to accomplish that over the next few days.  Keep reading!  I've really enjoyed the audience.

Get Well Soon
Ben-

Hate to hear that your trip got aborted. Sounds like you had some good times on the way to Malariatown anyway (I've been keeping up. . .long time stalker, first time poster)

Regardless, here's to you getting better and fleeing the country again. The boys and I shall drink a giant beer in your honor (had to send the intern back to Indiana, but got another one).

P.S. Saw in the Post where Libya signed an S&T agreement. . guess Bob didn't have to stay for months after all.
