One hour by train from Florence the town of Pisa well known world wide for it's Leaning Tower. Obviously we wanted to see one of the wonders of the world, although to be fair we didn't actually know it was one until we read it on a sign next to the tower, so off we headed on the train.

The town is quite small but overrun by day-trippers, in this case just like us. We enjoyed watching everyone taking the obligatory photos either holding the tower up or leaning against it. Also in the grounds of the Piazza del Duomo were the Duomo itself, covered in ornate fresco sketching and the Battistero. The Battistero looked great, being completely round in design. With the weather being fantastic we had a great outing. We didn't climb the Leaning Tower as they only allow 30 people up every thirty minutes and this time of the year you have to book well in advance.

After a short stop we headed back to Florence where we had marked the exact position of the Statue of David on the map. This would mean we could avoid wandering into any churches containing dead guys. We were astounded by the fact that you can get reduced rate for students only if you are from Europe. Megan tried to argue the fact but the ticket guy was having none of it and charged us 9.50 Euro each, which to be honest was a major rip off. After checking the mighty fine physique of David (although he did have unusually large hands) we wanders through some of the old squares and checked out the oldest bridge in Florence.
