Bit of a blip on the map today. We had heard that Izmir had one of the best traditional bazaars in all of Turkey, so we bought a bus ticket there from Pamukkale. What a big waste of time! Izmir is a bit of a hole and the bazaar? Well we didn't think it was that flash. A bit like the Caribbean or Springvale markets back home; lots of plastic odds and ends for the house, cheep rip off clothes and crowds and crowds of people. There was nothing worth buying that we couldn't get at home. We had imagined a mysterious den, selling carpets, apple tea, lanterns and bedspreads but it was definitely not the experience we had imagined. Oh well, one day wasted but we decided to head straight to Istanbul to fulfill the mystery we so desired.
