We managed to convince Rick's parents to venture downstairs past the rude backpackers the following day so we could check out Edinburgh. We wandered around for a few hours in the morning taking in the Parliament building and Scott's Memorial. Walking up to the top of town we saw the famous Edinburgh Castle where they were setting up for the Edinburgh Tattoo. Lucky Glenys and David are attending in a weeks time. They were surprised to see it is actually held in the car park out the front not in the actual grounds as we suppose there is limited room inside.

After leaving the Castle we had a wander through the local farmers market then jumped in the car to drive to the Rosslyn Chapel where part of the Da Vinci Code was filmed. Rosslyn Chapel, built for the Knights Templar, was amazing, reminding us of the intricately carved temples in India. The interior was very different to any other churches we'd been in so far.

Totally exhausted it was time to head back to the hostel so we could repack our very heavy bags. Luckily we managed to off load some things to Rick's Mum who still had some room in her suitcase. Our bags are still way too heavy to be starting the next leg with. Oh well we will just have to cull stuff on the road.

Rick's parents made friends with the local parking inspector whilst parking the car at the hostel. He was very jealous of them as he said he lived in Edinburgh and couldn't get tickets to the Tattoo. He didn't understand how they could so they told him he would need to book a holiday to Edinburgh through QANTAS to get tickets next year.
