With our temporary accommodation sorted (it's pretty entertaining living in an 18 bed dorm room) it was time to start looking for jobs and a better place to base ourselves. We also figured we could get a room in a share flat for cheaper than the hostel dorm.

Our first attempt at getting our act together turned into what we call a Day of Spinning Wheels. Firstly the hostel was getting their hot water service replaced and had mandated a full day lockout. This was okay as we had heaps to do away from it, it just meant we had to be out of there pretty early and couldn't get back in. Megan had read that the Islington Council had setup free wireless Internet along Upper Street. With free Internet we could start the job and flat hunting straight away for no cost. Cool! Getting the tube out to Upper Street we grabbed a seat in a café to surf the net. Well one thing they didn't mention was that it is very very very slow free Internet. A couple of hours later we gave up and figured we'd head to the local library as they too have free Internet. Walking for a few blocks to the library we found it's only closed on Wednesdays - today! Frustrated we then headed to Megan's nursing agency, PULSE, just off Oxford Street. On the phone they said she would be able to start work pretty much immediately, but when we arrived they said she had to have both Australian and UK police checks done first. This can take up to a month to complete. Great! All of this took up pretty much the entire day, hence we went back to the now open hostel, very frustrated and annoyed, with not much achieved.

The next day, with not much to do, we checked out a couple of dodgy flats that looked like they were being run by the Russian Mafia. We'll pass on those. The three star hotel across the road had a double room for ₤650 per week ($1,600 AUD). Hopefully tomorrow something will crop up as the French backpackers at the hostel are becoming really obnoxious.
