One of the main reasons for coming to Sweden was to visit the world's biggest IKEA store. After bumming around for the morning we headed out to try and catch the train out of town to the store. We found the station easily but then had a bit of trouble finding the local trains. Eventually we managed to buy the weirdest train ticket ever. It looked like a really long bookmark and then we had to figure out what to do with the thing. A ticket inspector put some stamps on it for us and we headed off.

IKEA was huge! Megs was in heaven except for the fact she couldn't buy anything. We did grab a catalogue to take home though and enjoyed a nice Swedish meatball lunch with the thousands of other people in the store. The place was really busy for a weekday.

When we returned to the hostel we took a seat in the common room and relaxed for a while. After a few minutes an old lady walked in and gave us a really dirty look. We think she is the mother of the hostel owner. We had had a run in with her on the first day when she yelled at Megan because the kitchen was full of dirty dishes. Considering we had arrived 30 minutes prior and had not even used a dish we thought this was a bit unfair and ignored the crazy lady. She took a seat at the adjoining table and proceeded to eat something really smelly and mutter to herself. As a good will gesture Megs gave her the TV remote in case she wanted to change the channel as she had been perched in front of the TV for the previous two days (the wooden seat has been shaped into her butt due to continual use!). The cranky oldie gave Megs a look of discontent and literally threw the remote across the table. Cranky old cow! We don't know what her problem was so we just ignored her for the rest of the day.

Getting hungry and in need of some more nutritious junk food, we headed down the road to Pizza Hut. We enjoyed the supreme deep dish pizza but had a heart attack when the bill came. For a 6 slice pizza it was about $40 Aussie!

Dear Sir,

Yesterday we went to Ikea wishing to enjoy the name of Ikea and to buy a clothes cupboard.
We got to the specific department we needed, the procedure of defininn our needs took about an hour ( new rapresentive in the store)
then making the order by the computer started the nightmare.
There was no computer that the raps could issue the order.....
After 20 minutes, they decided to issue us an mannual order.
Then when we came to pay, after we payed the cashier explained us that we'll have to wait 1 hour to get the goods.
We explained her that we need their carriage, so if they can transfer the goods directly to the carriage team to save us time (we were with our little child, 6 month old)
But..... no one was realy sensitive to our request.
We explaind them that we'll have to cancel our purchase because we can't wait..... no response from the guys.
So...... I've no words to this kind of treatment in Ikea, I understand that all the advertising in the media is just to make pepole come and suffer.
I didn't expect to have such experience yesterday in big Ikea.
Thx,
Carmel Tadmor
