This morning we made a beeline to the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Along the way we were told numerous times it was closed. Not believing them we bought our ticket and went in. it was packed with tourists checking out the magnificent temples and statues. The amount of gold leaf was amazing. We also spent a fair bit of time walking along the outer walls which are painted with scenes depicting previous Kings conquests and reigns. The level of detail was great.
We then ditched our shoes and went in to see the little Emerald Buddha. Megan was surprised to find he has a different gold wardrobe for each season. Being Winter he was covered in an exquisite gold robe.
Afterwards we got a tuk tuk to Siam Square to check out the shops. Megan was almost shaking with pleasure at the sight of cool shops and cheap markets. We spent a few hours wandering around, comparing the prices as we're going to go to the Chatuchak Market on Saturday to do some serious shopping. Dinner was some Japanese at a local restaurant.
