Our first night in a hostel was actually not too bad. Megan fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow but Rick, unfortunately, was kept awake by the English backpackers outside talking and laughing. We did manage to exact our revenge by getting up at 8am to go to Sentosa Island and packing up our stuff while they tried to sleep in.

Sentosa Island is at the Southern tip of Singapore, a four minute train ride away from our hostel. You can catch a bus, taxi, ferry or walk across the causeway but we decided to take the cable car to Mt. Fabar first and had a quick breakfast of sultana biscuits then on to Sentosa. The view is amazing but mared a little by the port which has huge ships almost bigger than the island itself! Sentosa is kind of like a tacky Dreamworld, a lot of the attractions were closed, being repaired or really run down. Rick decided to climb the Merlion and got some good photos from the top while I waited at the bottom. Then we walked to the ferry terminal and had a look at the beautiful gardens and onto the Orchid Garden where Rick took some great photos.

From there we were getting a bit hot so we caught the bus to Siloso Beach. It is a really nice resort beach and one of only three in Singapore (all are on Sentosa), however if you look past the man made islands just out from the shore you can see all the HUGE cargo ships going in to the port. You gotta wonder how clean the water is but we had a swim anyway because we were so hot and sticky.

As we got on the cable car to come back to the mainland a huge storm came in. There was lightning, thunder and buckets of rain. The cable car was swaying quite a lot but it made for an interesting ride back (and a wet walk back to the hostel).

Tonight we're going to relax, wander around and maybe track down some western food before we head off. Tomorrow we fly first to Bangkok for a short stopover at the airport then to Mumbai, India (where Bollywood is) so no idea how often we will be able to update our blog. Hope everyone is well, thankyou all for the emails and keep writing.

Hello from the DiP house.
Sick of hearing 'Hop, hop to the lolly shop...' Phuong was told to sing it when she misses you(you are well missed and we are over it!!)

We feel exhausted just reading about your travels. Hope the jocks have been washed.

Keep trying to update because it makes us feel like you are close by.

Love to you both,
Mum, Dad and Phuongstar XOXOXO
