We finally arrived after a long but uneventful flight. Rick was a bit annoyed that the playstation wouldn't work on the television in the seat in front, so we just had to watch movies instead. We managed to negotiate our way on the train to a station that we thought was across the road from the hotel, however after a very long, hot walk with our packs we discovered the hotel was across the road from a different station. Oh well we learnt our lesson very quickly. Have also discovered that our packs are very heavy and very full. We may need to get rid of some stuff but the problem is WHAT?

Day two we got up early and wandered through China Town which was very deserted. All the shops were closed so early on a Sunday morning, so we kept walking on to Boat Quay, across to Raffles landing site and to Cavenagh Bridge. We saw the small Merlion spitting water and the Esplinade - Theatres on the Bay building that looks like bug eyes. Then we went on to Raffles Hotel for some breakfast. With full tummies we began our search along Orchard Road for a video camera and ended up buying the very first one we saw after about 3 hours of shopping. We will start sending the full tapes back for safe keeping soon.

Once we had all that sorted we had a look around Fort Canning Park then back to Raffle's Long Bar (which was now open) and a respectable time for some Singapore Slings.

For dinner that night we went to Smith Street and had satay mutton and pork skewers and tried "Bakkwa" (a sweet sliced pork) for the first time. Then headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest.
