Back in Bangkok.
Owen and Aiden are still there, and Casey is there too. Nice little party!
So, fresh from my now famous pool victory and a good night's sleep on the 2nd Class Sleeper, I'm ready for action in Bangkok. One night there and then off to Koh Samet - a return to my first Island 16 months ago.
All I had to do was be up for 8am. Or, if I wanted breakfast a little earlier. Easy.
Ha.
Sorry Mum, again.
Yeah I got drunk, stayed out and missed the bus.
As it turned out the way we went was better. Taxi to Ratchathewi, Skytrain to Eastern Bus Station and then jump on to the bus just as it leaves. 3 hours later we're at Ban Phe. We even got to watch 'My Super Ex-Girlfriend' in Thai with no subtitles. And then the boat to Koh Samet. I'm excited. And so we head for Ao Thian. The place I first stayed with Gillian and Hannah and Wolff.
Not quite the same this time as the weather refused to do anything even vaguely nice for us. We had lots of cloud, lots of rain, and more than our share of thunderbolts & lightning (very very frightening me).
But it was still nice. This place is always relaxed. So we spent 2 nights there, effectively just walking up and down the island to look at shops and internet cafes on the main stretch. And then we moved up a couple of beaches. Beautiful little cove with 2 sets of bungalows on it. Gorgeous. Oh yeah except for the weather. But never mind, as mother kept saying ''you can't account for the weather'' and as Noel Gallagher says ''You gotta roll with it...'' And for many an exciting quote about the weather, such as:
''Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.'' ~Author Unknown

So we had a few more days, moved up the beach a couple of times. Chilled out a lot. Found a bar which had mats on the rocks right by the sea which was more than worth having a pint there. Found other bars on the beach which were equally worth a visit. Mum saw her first fire show, and 2nd fire show and at least appeared suitably impressed.
I got set on fire by a stupid Thai girl who claimed it was my fault because ''You moved''. I'm in a bar love. You haven't thrown fire on every other person who moved in here tonight. Now go away.
And off we headed back to Bangkok. One more full day there then Mother leaves on Sunday morning.
What to do with one last day in Bangkok?
Go to the Grand Palace!!!
We went. And it was well worth it.
A lot similar to Wat Pho in some ways, ie lots of white buildings with shiny gold and green tiling, but it's still bloody impressive. Our fair Queeny could take a (gold) leaf out of their book and build herself something half decent.
And then mother left... 2 weeks is never long enough for a holiday.
