Favourite Albanian pastimes:

1. Drinking coffee - This is done at all hours of the day, mostly by men and for an extraordinarily long period of time. Coffee is not a caffeine fix here, but rather a time to socialise. We could all learn something from the slower pace of life here.

2. Overtaking - This occurs all the time for no good reason whatsoever (and often at rather inopportune moments). Once we were overtaken by someone who drove into their driveway as soon as they overtook us.

3. Smoking - Everyone, all the time.

4. Watering your driveway/pavement/random piece of earth near you - Everyone, all the time.

Completed one of my 'three things I must do on this trip': This morning we got up early and caught the bus to Peja (Pec) to visit a bazaar where all the local farmers gather to sell their every shade and texture of goats cheese. Although I couldn't actually eat any of the cheese (stupid stomach) I wasn't disappointed. Farmers sat behind their vats of cheese and proffered their wares to all passing by. When someone wanted to buy some of the cheese it was simply scooped up by hand out of the vat and transferred to a plastic bag for weighing.

A great last night to end a great stay in Prishtina: We went to a restaurant called 'Home' which is meant to incite feelings of being home for any ex-pats here. It didn't and I'm very glad of that. It felt like I was in Prishtina eating a Western meal (stupid stomach) which was exactly how I wanted it!
