It is a very affluent business orientated city with a lovely river front with fascinating markets and museums.
We met our sole trekking companion - Andrew from Canada - and after two nights in Kuching we were to fly further up Borneo for the jungle adventure. ( no roads )
After a couple of flights in pretty small planes we met our guide - Jo Harry ( you may call me Jo) who explained that he was half Head Hunter ( Borneo) and half Pirate (Filipino) - that he had had only three people die on his previous tours and that whilst he didn't want any nasty injuries, he really liked cuts and bruises so that we would all remember our time in the jungle. Blimey we thought, said nothing and wondered what on earth we had let ourselves in for.
We spent all night re-packing - niceties such as deodorant and shampoo were jettisoned in favour of extra sticking plaster and insect repellent.

Your trip sounds excellent and it makes us both want to just get off and do some of the same. The guide in Borneo sounds a right nutter!!
Gill did not get the job she went for but got a better offer to stay in Key Stage 1. She much prefers the deal she has got now so all is well.
Went to the Ideal Home Exhibition yesterday (Good God, as I am typing I realise how bloody boring this is compared to what U2 are doing).

Sophie's birthday today so off into town for Yo Sushi (her choice not Doug's!)then We Will Rock You (the Queen musical). Expect to be deaf for two days but not so exotic as your excuse!

Hello, so you are negociating your way through the jungle led by a sadist pirate, watching out for head-hunters and avoiding the leeches.....sounds like a day in London.
Its great to hear from you, keep us updated with news from your intresting voyage.
