We awoke to clear but colder skies this morning so we were hoping for good photography with the eagles.  The Zirkles from Anchorage arrived yesterday afternoon, so we now had transportation to the spit.  When we arrived at the spit there were not as many eagles waiting for breakfast.  I guess they were just enjoying the sunshine.  As soon as Steve, the eagle feeder, opened a box of fish the eagles came from everywhere.  They supposedly can see for a mile, so I guess the same goes for fish in a box.
The blue sky and sunshine gave us a good chance for vivid photos.  The photos give you an idea of what we saw.
After the eagles started departing the area after the feeding, we drove north to try and see the volcanoes.  Mt. Augustine was visible from Homer so we wanted to see if we could get a good view of rumbling Mt. Redoubt.  We headed to Anchor Point and there we could see two and a half volcanoes.  Augustine and Illiamna were fully visible, but clouds covered the top of Mt. Redoubt.  We are thinking that warmth from the interior of the volcano mixing with the cold air was creating the clouds.
Then after lunch we took a drive up to Skyline Drive which gives a nice view of the spit and the mountains and glaciers across the bay.  Then down to the spit to catch the sunset.  As we headed down on the spit, we passed a group of rafting sea otters.  Some otters floating on ice chunks.  The sun provided us with a golden sunset with Mt. Augustine in the background.

Got any of you or Fred with all the eagles around you? I can see this trip was well worth it. I'm jealous!

Re: Pics of You & Fred
We are not allowed in with the eagles. If you are not in the yard, you must stay in your car or on the condo property next door.
