With nothing scheduled today, it was another slow start for us.  Since the internet at the campground has not been working well, we went into town to an internet café to check our mail and make a few phone calls on Skype.
We then attempted to do a few geocaches.  One took us to a large waterfall at the edge of town.  This is not a natural waterfall.  The original path of the water took it right through town.  Since this was not desirable, they rerouted the water to the edge of town and created a large cascade of water.
We then wandered along the waterfront which took us to the original beginning of the Iditarod.  Afterward we went though the shops in downtown Seward, which is away from the tourist area. It was now dinner time and we had not eaten lunch, so back to the trailer we went.
After dinner we thought we would go look for the momma bear and cub that had been seen frequently at the weir near the campground.  We only had to look at the number of people at the weir to know that they were there.  Momma bear seems to be using the weir to teach the cub to fish.  There are salmon at the weir and the cub tries to get them.  She then headed the cub across the street and into the woods on the other side of the road.  She did not seem to mind the people around, but we keep hoping that no one does something stupid to the bear and her cub.
From there we drove to the viewing area for Exit Glacier.  We did not climb to the glacier this time, as the weather has not been conducive to climbing anywhere.  The fresh snow on the mountain tops will give you an idea of the weather we have been having.
Tomorrow we start making our way toward Valdez, hoping to make it as far a Sheep Mountain.
