Rio is very beautiful, geographically, etc. The beaches, at least from what I have seen walking around ,are gorgeous. the bahias are also gorgeous. The buildings are slightly less dilapidated and nicer than Sao Paulo... in the wealthy areas, they are quite nice. Taxi cab drivers have no idea how to navigate the city, and even if they did, the traffic is unbearable. There are people everywhere, especially in Copacabana, which is already some of the densest housing in the world, then add the tourists and the people who are drawn to them.

Tomorrow I will see some of the staples of Rio - pao de azucar (sugarloaf, an awesome 600ft tall rock tower, accessed by cable car) and Cristo Redentor, the massive christ figure on top of the ~2000ft tall mountain that overlooks the entire city. Then we go to see Fatboy Slim play a live set (starting at 1am) in the hipster district of Rio (from what I gather, kind of like SoHo, but in brazil). There are lots of people here, half of which are really into weed, but about 80% of which are very nice. The hostel is sparsely roomed with two bathrooms, one has a shower. My roommates are 4 chileans traveling together, all nice dudes. I tried speaking spanish but they were better english speakers and also wanted to practice on me. So we kind of went both ways.

I probably won~īt update until Buenos Aires... the plan is to see the rio things, stop spending so much money (tours, hostels, etc very expensive in rio, plus carnaval soon), then get an overnighter from Rio to SP so that I donīt have to spend a night there before my 8am flight to argentina. enough for now. email me if you would like to chat. eadamson gmail.

Deja vu - I remember it all as if it was yesterday
Hi Eric, so good to hear that you have some nice company to enjoy Rio night and day. I am feeling much better now that you are settling in to the travel ethos. There is a mini bread roll(like a doughnut hole) filled with a creamy cheese that I could have become addicted to very easily. Have one or two for me:)
Love you, Mum x
