November 19, 2007

I was chatting with one of my closest friends last Sunday afternoon and was telling her about my recent Hong Kong trip.  Suddenly, I was already telling her about something I just remembered happening when we were in Disneyland.  We were a group of 6, 4 of whom are my aunts and the other a family friend.  We arrived there early morning.  Auntie Nona told me that we should ride the mini train we saw by the entrance.  I thought at first that it was just there for aesthetic purposes so I didn’t really mind her.  It was almost evening when I saw the train running so I told them that we would ride on it right after we rode Dumbo The Flying Elephant.  The train wasn’t there yet when we got to the loading station.  When it arrived, there was a cute Disney staff in the first cabin who was kinda smiling.  I would say, at me but I wasn’t really sure so I waved at him, smiled and said hi.  He waved back and smiled too.  We went to the second cabin and sit there comfortably while the train was on a 5 to 10-minute stop, waiting for the other passengers to ride.  The cute guy was passing by when I told my companions with full conviction, "Magpapa-picture ako kasama ‘to."  But then I hesistated and watched him walk away.  Auntie Ening commented, "Mahina ka Jane, kung ‘yan lang di mo kaya."  Maybe I was only challenged by what she said or maybe I found him really cute, or maybe a little of both - when he passed by again, I stood up and said "Excuse me, can we have a picture together?"  He nodded and gamely posed with me for the camera.  We even had a group picture with him.  I thanked him after and he asked me, "Am I handsome?"  I didn’t say anything but I smiled widely.  I went back to my seat when he left and I saw him approached our group again after a few minutes.  I was busy fixing my hair that time so I didn’t bother to talk to him anymore.  Besides, they were teasing me to him all throughout so I felt kinda awkward.  Auntie Kaliw then handed me one of the Disney stickers he actually gave out.  Take note: he only gave stickers to our group and the other passengers were looking enviously.  Naks naman.  Hehehe.  When we got off the train, I bumped into him and we sorta stopped in the middle of the station staring at each other - for seconds.  I looked away first but I looked back and told him, "It was nice meeting you."  We went to opposite directions and he was still saying something else when I was walking away.  We were running late for the Mickey Mouse show so I didn’t go back to hear him out any longer.  Auntie Ening ran after me and said she asked his name.  I guess I was so overwhelmed with what was going on around me that time, I don’t remember now what she said his name was.  When I asked her yesterday about it, she couldn’t recall too.  Hehehe.  I wasn’t really thinking that what happened between me and that cute guy was something… at least not until I talked to my friend.  She told me, "Imagine in this world where everyone is guarded, somebody took time out and went out of his way to connect with you.  That, is one of the miracles of life."  You know what now, I think she’s right.  Once in awhile, that incident would cross my mind and I can’t help but smile (caution: all by myself), then I’d whisper… sayang! :-(  Di bale next time, I’d know better.  Bwahaha.
