Earliest start of the trip so far – we left Venice at 6:30am. Most of the tour group was still drunk…. Our tour leader Luke decided it would be a great laugh to play Austrian Yodelling music for the whole journey too. Evil bastard…

The drive into Austria was beautiful; Lush green countryside carpeted with flowers in full bloom and a backdrop of huge towering mountains. Along the way we stopped for lunch on the side of the road. We were so high up that there was snow everywhere so we of course engaged in an epic snow battle. Despite the snow it's really quite warm here, almost uncomfortably so.

We arrived in Tyrol early afternoon and had the chance to go canyoning, mountain biking, para sailing or skydiving. Liz chose skydiving, I picked mountain biking. It’s the first time we have both done so in ages due to various sports injury dramas.

Liz said that her skydive was the best she’s ever done (this was her fifth jump). I enjoyed my ride but took an unplanned "shortcut" with Alex where we spent an hour pushing our bikes up an enormous hill (we failed the map reading test). Our brakes were so hot on the way back down that when I splashed water on them it instantly turned to steam.

Our evening was very chilled. A few guys taught the locals how to play rugby while the rest of us huge Jenga-thon in the hotel bar.

Not much more to say about Austria really. It is every much as beautiful as Switzerland and has plenty of cool adventure activities – a lot like back home in NZ actually. I would really like to check out Vienna some other time, and more mountain biking near Innsbruk.

Next time!
