Left hotel at 5.45am - the start of a few very early mornings. Bright sunshine now that we are leaving the area - typical.

Very uneventful flight from Pakse to Siem Reap and then taken to our hotel which is a beautiful oasis of calm in the town. There is a lot of flooding in Siem Reap at the moment - the main street where all the restaurants are - the aptly named Pub Street - is knee deep in water so this is going to force us to change our plans of where to eat ( Peter and Julie - we will try to get to the Khymer Family Restaurant if we can!)

Very hot day so we had a lazy (?) morning catching up on the blog , e-mail and the washing and then we went to Angkor Wat mid afternoon - it wasn‘t as crowded as I had expected which was good..

I don’t really know what to write about it - it has left me speechless (and those of you who know me well will know that is not a common event!). It is amazing - the size of it, the intricate carvings, the fact that every corner you turn there is another wonderful view, the reflections in the lake (and in the puddles which are still all around) - just wonderful! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves (and be warned - those of you who we will be showing all the photos to when we get home - there are a lot!).

Ah, wish I was back there - I am so totally jealous. Go to the night market and have a fish massage (best one is the first on the right hand side opposite the ice cream/coffee bar (he has 2 tanks, big fish in the smaller front one and small fish in the bigger back tank - try both) then go and have a leg massage at the very top under the big tree on the green chairs - if you can find them lol!
