The 1st day of our trek involved an early morning bus for the 5 hour journey to Pokhara, from where we would take a flight up to the mountains.
Pokhara is situated alongside a beautiful lake with views up to the snowy himalayan peaks of the Annapurna range. While we relaxed we met a couple of tibetan women who lived at the nearby refugee camp which was set up after the chinese occupation in 1950. They were born there and had lived their whole lives struggling to make ends meet. They were very interested to hear about our experiences in Tibet as they only get limited information. We were keen to help so we agreed to buy some of their wares (home made jewelery).
After dinner we had the first England v Nepal pool match against our guide Subin and our porter Deebee. We just managed to win. Subin (21) always smiling and singing and Deebee (20) proved to be the nicest guides and great company throughout the trek.
