For our last day in Chengdu (hopefully!) we decided to visit a famous Panda sanctuary and research centre. Despite pouring rain it was amazing to watch these beautiful cuddly creatures close up. We watched as they were fed bamboo shoots and leaves and as they lumbered around and climbed trees. A fabulous experience.

We got back at lunch time and went to a lovely vegetarian restaurant located in a Buddhist temple near where we are staying. The speciality is veg food made to look and taste like meat or fish. We feasted on "prawns" with mushroom and cucumber, "pork" in a cage and asparagus - very realistic and tasty.
