So the flight to Amsterdam wasnt a pleasant experiece. . . .maybe there is a tiny lesson there. dont drink and fly hangovers dont do well in planes. Getting of the plane was fantastic, a feeling similar to escaping from jail id imagine. So we followed the signs to the baggage collection area and picked up our bags no worries. My bogan hat made me stand out and i was asked to present my bag for luggage inspection, i said i was from australia and the guy let me go. . . lucky cause i wasnt in the mood to fully unpack my bag. Snacked on some of hungry jacks finest at the airport, chips or fries as we now call them. Everything was going perfectly, now we just had to wait and see if yvonne was yvonne and not Ian, the tourist killer. she had arranged for her friends to meet us at the station, as she was working till late, that did make me a little suspect, but, i had faith. We went to the in-airport train station and perchased our tickets to diemen zuid, or diemen south. Research on ticket machines paid off and we bought tickets like pros and made our way to the platform. Got asked for directions by some charlie in cowboy hat. . . . do i look like im a local, huge backpack and im at a airport speaking english. Obviously had no clue where to send him to. Train trip was quite funny, it was packed and we jump on with backpacks, got a lot of dirty looks when we got stuck and blocked the doors, i think our stop came just in time. got there at 6 as instructed and were met by yvonne's friends, fully english speaking guy and a girl. It was a big relief to find that there was someone there to met us and that we hadnt just thrown down shit creek in a leaking boat. She lives in Student housing thats constructed from old shipping containers, quite clever, a little aesthetically dull, a cool idea all the same . Yvonne was returning at 9.45, so we were left with our key and the house was ours for a few hours. Sanfty and i went exploring the local surrounds, we found a supermarket and bought dinner, we made sausages and chicken parmas, actually we made parmas, not sure it was chicken in the end, but tasted pretty good all the same. We got to sleep at 1 after a few beers and a chat. Yvonne was really nice and sanfty and i were really pleased with what we had found. Our bed or couch was a floor, but it was sweet and actually surprisingly easy to sleep on, no worries mate. Got the train to Amsterdam in the afternoon, went exploring the curving streets that went on for ages, very easy to get lost. i have one word. . . bike, bikes are everywhere and are the transport of choice in the city, they fill the streets. 1.4 million bikes and only 800 thousand people. Another thing, as they drive on the other side on the road here, dont forget to look both ways, nearly go hit a few time because i looked the wrong way, you have to be really careful. We purchased a twenty4 hour ticket so we could cruise in and out of the city as we pleased, more bang for your buck. . . speaking of bang for your buck..... fat black hookers, trying to entice us with there getto bootys. She looked straight at me. . it was a little off putting, but some people like that shit i guess. It came as quite a shock as we did know we were in the red light area, they just sort of snuck up on us. you can get all shapes and sizes, some more attractive than others. not going there though, not into that sort of thing. We were home by 5.30 as the soccer stárted at 6 amd yvonne is a made german supporter, she had a few of her friends over for drinks and the game. Sanfty and i carried home a slab of the good stuff to feed the troops, beer come in case here that you can take back to the shop and get a refund of a couple of euros. we watched the second half of the game at the uni pub, it was really cool and had good music playing and cheap drinks. jugs come in 1.5lt as opposed to our 1.1lt jugs, once again more bang for your buck. Germany lost, which didnt impress yvonne at all, i suggested just to forget the soccer and just to drink up. We went to city and experinced the amsterdam nightlife. had some febo, an amsterdam thing were you have mini microwaves lining the walls, filled with hamburgers and other healthy delights. Danced the night away and got home at around 5 on the night bus, a great night and morning. but its time for some sleep now i think just to get the body back to normal. So i hit bed at around 6 and we went into the city again at around 2, yvonne played tour guide and showed us both around, snacked on some fries and mayo for lunch, as we did the day before, im going to morph into a huge fat arse i think im talking triple figures.. . . ill have to calm down on the food . found a store called australian, got nothing to do with australia, they sell chocolate and cakes . . . no pies anywhere. went to vondel park and just walked the streets . tommy and are thinking of making a little bet, heads is hooker, tails is hash. one or the other, maybe both in the end. but seriously, im not getting a pro. public toilets are just that, very public, just a little stand to piss onto, no doors/screen just in full view . We all went to the torture museum, saw some pretty funny stuff, would have been very painful. saw a neck breaking machine, but possibly the best was the ball breaker contraption, clever idea. Netherlands is play france tonight in the eurocup, should be another good night, i think well watch it home, but we might go back to the unibar of last night and watch it there. im planning on tomorrow to be the day of crazyness . . . stay tuned i guess.
