Monday 29th Aug – Weds 31st Aug

Trekking round Lake Baikal. We set off and walked 8km on first night and spent a soggy night in a tent. A couple of dogs followed us from the first village and kept us company for the whole trek!!! They decided it would be a good idea to poke their nose through the tent into Amanda's face and scare her to death ...... Duncan made a soft landing though!!!! Ha Ha HA!

The second day (approx. 25km) was hard going on the legs as it was all on the gravelly shore with some clambering over rocks…and after a difficult night in the tent we were both shattered. We voted to stay in the Rangers station on the second night as we discovered a couple of holes in the tent and didn't want another soggy night!!

The last day of hiking (15km) had dramatic scenery but was tough due to steep ascents and descents but at least it wasn’t on the rocky shore for the whole day and we got some stunning views out onto the lake. We had a few beers , vodka and dumplings to finish the hike! Along with a paddle/ swim in the lake for Duncan and Amanda respectively!!
