Ah Paris... Now that is a city!

It's one thing to visit Paris, and it's an entirely different thing to visit it with two of your best friends.  I hear a lot of people say they don't like Paris, even traveler's that I've met a long the way, but I guess it could be the company that they are with who really make the trip.

How can anyone not like a city that has such great things to see like the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, The Catacombs, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacre Coeur Church, and so many other things?  It's definitely not a cheap city, but that shouldn't stop you from visiting and enjoying such a great place.

Our routine, Parkes, Philly and I, consisted of going to the grocery store in the morning, picking up some lunch meat, baguettes, cookies, chips, water, fruit for roughly 5Euro each, and hitting the sites until our knees buckled and socks smelt worse than a open can of sardines, and I wouldn't of done it any different.

It didn't start off all that great, I'd say there was a period of worry for about 2 or three hours before one of my favourite moments of the trip happened, and I'll explain why...

The last week or so of our trip was a result of a conversation, well a few messages fired back and forth on facebook, about two or three weeks before we left for Europe, between Philly and I.  I saw his status on Facebook saying that he was in Africa for work, so I decided to send him a message and ask him half jokingly if he was going to be in Europe anytime within the next three months.

To my surprise, he fires back a message saying that he's going to be in Paris and gives me the dates, and it's around the same time that Parkes and I would be going through that part of France!  So we decided that somehow, we would make it work, and meet Philly for either the full length of time that he's ther5e, or at least a few days.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and no updates on the exact day of his arrival, some crazy planning to Nice, and finally the confirmation of what day he will be in Paris, when where in Nice, and here we are walking up Charenton St in Paris, fresh off the train, expecting to see Philly outside our hotel because his plane was schedule to arrive around 5:40 in the morning.

However, we weren't 100% sure he'd be there, because we only got the Facebook message the day before we left, and I sent him back an email telling him that I'd book the hostel, gave him the address, and that we'd meet him there, and this was sent after his flight was set to leave that night.

So all we could was hope that he hadn't booked anything, that he checks his email when he gets off the plane, and manages to find his way over there from the Charles de Gaul Airport by himself, in one of the biggest cities in the world.

So I think you can understand our concern that when we show up at the hostel, he hasn't checked in, and we have a three bed room that we have to pay for upfront.  I checked my facebook email, hadn't received a reply, and it's about 3PM right now.

Parkes decides to go for a stroll and see if he can see him, and I stay back and check my emails to see if he sends anything.

About 20 minutes later, I get a knock at the door, figuring it's Parkes trying to get back in.

I open the door, and low and behold it's Philly, in Paris, a guy I haven't seen since Christmas, huffin and puffin, with about 5 bags, and a crazy story to tell about how he got there!  That was a pretty cool moment!

From there, we went out, had a beer, and saw a lot of what Paris has to offer.  All in all, an awesome four days in Paris!
