We were picked up at 9 am by a bus. I drew the Ace so sat in right front seat.
We were driven up the windy narrow Ocosingo road which took us through the Sierra Madre de Chiapas with its magnificent scenery and views of agricultural valleys up to the 8000 falls. We drove thru many small villages along the way, with their villagers hawking wares, going to and from jobs, some carrying large machetes, and walking along the highway within inches of the buses, cars and trucks that go whizzing by. It amazes me that children are walking to and from school, and running and playing right by the busy highway.
We were taken to Misol-Ha to see majestic 100-foot waterfall. It had been raining for two days, so there was an extraordinary amount of water. Jack said it was about 10 times as big as usual. There was so much water that it creates a back draft at the bottom sending water back up the trail. Two of our group went behind the falls and got soaked. We were pretty wet just being on the trail.
We then were taken to Agua Azul about an hour's drive away. The roads were narrow and close in on both sides with jungle. The falls at Agua Azul cascades over rocks and falls and there was a lot of water again because of the rains. I bought empanadas from some girls frying them beside the trail. They had cheese in them. Then we went back down the trail to one of the many little restaurants that are there. We had fish. I bought little bananas from one of the little girls selling them. They are so cute and so serious-very business like, but they will bargain if you hesitate.
It was a long ride home and many Trackers slept. We stopped at a roadside stall selling clothing and many purchased items.
Doug and I went to dinner down the road with the Tracks employees.

Glad to hear about your continuing adventures. Sounds like it has great food with just a side of challenging traffic. Glad to hear Doug is getting his ice cream on a regular basis. All is well on the homefront.
Hugs,
Cindy
