We left Karlsruhe and headed to the start of the Schwarzwald-Hochstrasse scenic route through the black forest. We drove through Baden Baden, the place where I lived for 4 years and if we had been thinking earlier we would have tried to stop by the house I had lived in. But we had a long drive ahead so just continued on. The scenery was beautiful, obviously a lot of trees! We made a few stops along the way. We did a short hike, it was the strangest track we had ever been on. There were "bridges" built to climb over fallen trees.

WE stopped in a few towns along the way,Freudenstadt was the first. Not a lot happening! WE grabbed some lunch and the info center was closed so continue on. The next stop was Triberg, where the 2 biggest cuckoo clocks in the world are as well as the cafe that claims to have the original black forest cake recipe. We tried the cake, we've had better!
