The next couple of nights we spent with my old friend Debbi, again so lovely and easy to spend time with her and her family, and of course great to have all the creature comforts of a house... Astrid and I had a chat about how we are almost ready to be back in Melbourne and living in house again. We have had such an amazing time, and we know the next few weeks there will be more great stuff to see and do, but if the trip were to end right now we would be happy, content and satisfied. We have done and seen so much incredible stuff, but we are at the weary end of travelling. It reminds me of all the travelling I did in my twenties and when you are almost home, or ready to come home, it feels so good... like having a hot shower at the end of a cold, dark winter's day. So Astrid and I reckon it will be great to get back to Melbourne, not sure if the boys are on the same page though!

At Debs we sussed out the last leg of the adventure – how to do what we want as well as visit all our friends along the way? One of the things we wanted to do most on this trip was go to an island and camp where we could snorkel to the reef. Before we left Melbourne, in the planning of this trip we had investigated a few options – Lady Musgrave Island, the Whitsundays etc. So from Innisfail we were going South to visit friends near Mackay, then on to the Sunshine Coast to visit a lovely family we had met on the West coast. How to fit all this in? After much deliberation, and working out when to visit who, we decided on a rather random option of camping on Hook Island, at Crayfish Beach. Not entirely random I guess as it is part of the Whitsunday Islands National Park, however neither of us had heard if it before hand.
