we left fairly early on our trip out to Steep Point from Tamala Station. The weather was a little overcast and looked like it might rain, but we'd decided to go and see how we went.
The drive out to Steep Point was great fun, 4wd through the sand, lots of lumps and bumps to keep the kids amused, there was even a bit of beach driving (that freaked Tam out), but the tide had reached it's highest point and only one wheel was going to get wet.
We made it to Steep Point the most western part of mainland Australia.
After a photo shoot at the point we headed back for a swim at the beach we'd driven on, as the water was particularly inviting. We were swimming amongst small fish and we even saw what I though were some kind of shark (looked like the sandy bottom and wasn't very large), but as I'm not a great person to identify fish, it might have been something else.
We were all really pumped to have made it to Steep Point, and got back to camp in high spirits.
