Where I stayed
Day 18 - Real DE Catorce, San Louis Potosi to San Miguel De Allende, Guanajuato
Went through 5 states today (Tamaulipas, Nueva Leon, Coahuila, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi)
420 km and 5.5 hours
Well another day is behind us. We couldn't leave Real De Catorce, at least we didn't want to. We lounged around Refugio Romano when we awoke and took in the sights and sounds from its perch. Then we went back 'downtown' and had a late breakfast of delicious omelets at Casa Azul and then wandered around doing something close to nothing. We finally dragged ourselves
away at noon, loaded the car and drove
SLOWLY out of town and back down the cobblestone road to join up with the highway. The trip to San Miguel was again an easy one, with only a stop for gas and then FRESH 'fresas con crema' (
strawberries with cream) at a roadside stand 40 pesos for both of us (that's about $3.10 cdn). Just like strawberries her in June!
We arrived at our B & B called Casa Papaya and met the owners Julie (American) & Stan (British), and settled in. We walked downtown about 15 minutes
and went for dinner at Ole Ole for fajitas and caught a bus back to Casa Papaya. We will explore more tomorrow as we don't plan on leaving until after lunch.
BIG day tomorrow as we will be meeting up with Paul! Finally, our first offspring of the trip. We will be arriving in Zamora de Hidalgo around 3 or 4.
CAN'T WAIT!!!!
