Day 15 - Bastrop Texas to San Antonio Texas via Texas Hill Country.
300 km and 6 hours (straight line it's only 145 km and 1 & 3/4 hours - but where's the fun in that!)

 "
Sometimes I just wake up hummin'
Feelin' like this world is right
Want to jump right up and take a walk outside
And take in the morning light
feel the music running through me,yeah,
make me want to dance
Clap my hands and dance" (from Jerry Jeff's Hill Country Rain)

No rain for us today just big beautiful Texas Skies. We drove through a bunch of small towns today, Bastrop, Buda, Dripping Springs, Blanco, Luckenbach, Boerne and finally to a big one San Antonio. 'Hill Country' is a bit of a misnomer if you ask me. If we can call Collingwood 'Blue Mountain', then it's not the Texans who are claiming everything is bigger! We saw some decent height. Donna said it reminded her of Crete in Greece. Very rocky and dry with lots of dry creek beds with flash flood signs and more sheep and goats than cows or horses, even a couple antelope or (something)!
We ended the day at another great reasonably priced hotel in San Antonio (thanks again to Hotels.com). The St. Anthony's Riverwalk Wyndham Hotel. Old and lovely, and very close to the famous Riverwalk in SA. We walked down and around for awhile, than settled on Joe's Crabb Shack (Love, Peace & Crabs!) Good food, but definitely a chain restaurant experience. Afterwards we took the boat tour around the river. Got a good feel for the 'lay of the water'. After that it was back to the St. Anthony. Up early tomorrow for a walk around the Alamo before heading for Laredo.
I'd like to go into more detail but we're up at 5 tomorrow to cross into Mexico (still a day behind on the blog).
