Day 4 - Thursday Feb. 23rd
Day Two - Washington to Annapolis area Markyland
Stats - 90 KM & 2!!! Hrs. in car.

We had our best meal of the trip at lunchtime today a couple blocks from the White House. It was called the Corner Bakery - pretty fancy for a 'corner bakery', but we concur that it was delicious. After that we went to move the car (again - see parking post), then walked to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. No charge to enter museum which was a nice feature. Lots of interesting exhibits.

We left DC late in the afternoon/early evening, hoping that rush hour would be over - no way. What our GPS told us would be a one hour trip to the other side of the Bay Bridge at Annapolis, took us over TWO hours. Most of that time was spent navigating DC stuck in and avoiding traffic. When we got past Annapolis, unfortunately it was after dark so we couldn't see Chesapeake Bay. We stopped for dinner at a place called AmeriCantina, which was good but average TexMex. Except the Avocado Zamora appetizer, which I got because Paul (our son) is in Zamora Mexico. Superb! Fresh shrimp in a sweet & tangy tomato sauce filling up two Avocado halves. While at dinner I searched on the phone for lodging for the night. It was looking like the 'Sleep Inn' for $69 would be it, but then I found a closer place called the 'Kent Manor Inn' which was advertised at $99. Drove in a VERY long lane to a beautiful big Mansion. I talked to the innkeeper, and she said summer rate was $210! We took the deal and had a great night sleep in a 3rd floor room on the 227 acre resort.
