Dive day #3
Dive #1: Today we started out at a site called white house (for the white house directly across on shore). The current was strong but it was a nice drift dive. We saw 2 sharks, one of which was sleeping under a coral formation, along with an extremely large southern stingray. Unfortunately, I had improperly inserted my dive camera's battery so I have no photographic proof. Fortunately, Emily and Paul will vouch for me on our sightings.
Our surface interval consisted of a downpour, so no drying off between dives!
Dive #2: We then went to Yucab. We spent some time in the sea grasses trying to find another seahorse. Instead we found a yellowline arrow crab. This was a little guy with blue claws. Emily and I got to hold him for a while, which was quite fun. On the remainder of the dive we saw many of the usual fish: various angelfish, tang, grouper, butterfly fish. It was a nice dive, but trying to fight the current to take pictures made me suck through my air!
This afternoon we went driving around the island. There’s a loop road that goes around the southern half of the island. We explored the beach at the southern tip of the island, watching waves against the rocky shoreline. We had dinner at a place called Plaza Leza. The enchiladas had the creamiest cheese I’ve ever had. We did some window shopping around the town square before heading back to the condo to relax.
