Well, welcome to Iguazu Falls.  The town, Puerto Iguazu is located on the Argentinian side of the Falls (the falls are actually inbetween Brazil, Peraguay and Argentina).  It is a cute little town with lots of restaurants, bars and places to stay.  We opted for another private room with AC (as it is extremely humid here)......not quite the cool air of Patagonia.  We spent the first night walking around town, and then decided to break from Steak or Pizza tradition and found a Mexican restaurant........yes, I think the only mexican restaurant in Argentina, and we found it.  (man we miss the Mexican food in Cali)........

Woke up ready for the falls. Steph was a bit unhappy since she was up all night for the all you can eat buffet.... unfortunately she was the buffet for some sort of insect we had in our room. She woke up with 20 plus bug bites which she spent the entire day TRYING not to scratch. I, on the other hand, had no bites. Guess that goes to show you who`s sweeter  (comment inserted by steph!!!)

We took the city bus into the park to see the falls.  Some guides say that Iguazu has the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, even better than Niagra Falls and Victoria Falls in Africa.  The falls are pretty amazing, probably the best thing about the falls is that they are surrounded by a national park so it is a protected environment.  The falls arenīt as high as Niagara Falls, but are said to be much wider, and with many multi-level falls.  They truly were stunning.  All the dense forestry around the falls, and the fact that we are in a rain forest makes for some pretty amazing sights.

We were sold by the local "tourist information booth" a.k.a. travel agency for booking tours, that we would get to see Monkeys, Jaguars and Pumas along with Parratos and other exotic birds on our 6 KM Jeep ride through the Jungle.  It turned out to be an extremely loud truck that scared away anything and everything within a mile radius....oh well.  The jeep took us to a boat ride, and the boat ride was awesome though. It took you down some rapids leading up to the falls, and they took you right underneath some of the falls.  Letīs just say you get soaking wet.

We ended up swiming on an island in the center of the falls and caught the last boat back to shore.
Iīm sure we took over 100 pictures walking through the park, and several videos to give you an idea of the scale and size of the falls, I donīt think it is possible to see through pictures how amazing this place is, you really just have to come.  I think the word is out though, as there are hundreds of tour bus companies and loads of tourists everywhere now.  So come soon!!!

We found another Hostel close by our hotel, it has a pool, and AC and TV and is 20 pesoīs cheaper (and hopefully bug'less)........so we are heading over there for a day of relaxing by the pool.

We managed to catchup on our last 5 blogs because it has been raining for the past hour (remember we are in the rain forest........)

We are heading tomorrow to Peru, getting climatized to the altitude in Cusco for a few days (11,500 ft) for the Inca Trail 4 day (uphill) trek to Machu Picchu.

Talk soon!

The Falls
Wow...that footage is amazing. However, like the Apollo Moon Landing, I think it was staged in a hollywood studio.
Derek - you are living every man's dream...a 3 month weekend with steak every night for dinner! God bless you.

Stay safe...bood luck on the hike...and get some video when you get to the top (don't forget the signature moves.
