Dublin day 1 - brian - our plane from madrid landed at 11 pm. We took a bus from the airport to the city center, found our hostel, and climbed into bed. Zzzzz.
Dublin day 2 - brian - our second day in Dublin we woke up in time for the free breakfast and we were well rested and in high spirits. Our room here is awesome, the beds are comfy and we have our own bathroom and a ballin shower. They had peanut butter with the breakfast breads, so that put me in an even better mood. We went on the 1030 walking tour and our guide kyle was pretty cool. He told us some interesting stuff about all of the buildings in the heart of Dublin. We saw a cathedral, a fort that wasn't much of a fort, a pretty lawn area, and some ancient Viking settlements before our first rest break. Apparently the fort used to look like a fort, but during a fire back in the day their arms depot caught on fire and blew everything up except for the one corner that still looks like a fort. After our pit stop, we visited trinity college, where a bunch of famous writers went to school. The campus was really pretty. Then we went to a famous park and got more Irish history. When that was over we followed Kyle to a pub and got beef stew and ham for lunch and bought our tickets for the pub crawl that started at 730. Barcelona would laugh at them, as our pub crawl there started at midnight. The lunch was amazingly delicious in a salty warm comfort food kind of way. After we stuffed ourselves with potatoes and meat we took a long walk to the guiness museum. I learned so much there, but most importantly that I still don't like guiness. Their secret is to burn the hell out of the barley and then use it for beer. That's why it looks black and tastes like burnt barley. We enjoyed our free pint'o'guiness at the top of their museum that overlooks Dublin. Then, we walked back to our hostel and ate the free pasta they served on Wednesday nights, before changing and heading out the the pub crawl. The pub crawl was probably the best one yet, we met a bunch of cool people and went to a really fun Irish bar where our tour guide kyle did some funny dances. We ended up convincing two Canadians and a guy from Georgia tech that they should come with us to howth the next day, and they happily obliged. So, we went to bed late after the pub crawl but woke up to go meet them and head to howth. More on that later!
