Ireland... land of the Irish (no really...). I couldnt be happier here ! You wouldnt believe how friendly the locals are... asking for directions usually elicits either them drawing you a map or them taking you there. Cork, the second largest city in Ireland had such a small town feel and was a beautiful city.

After arriving saturday night... during st.patrick's weekend i was exhausted.. being in the airport sitting around can really take it otta ya! While i'm not thrilled that im admitting this... i will be made a fool of! Believe it or not.... i got to the hostel at around 930 and ugh.. didnt make it out! (bloody hell!)
Ah well... Sunday was a fantastic day. The sun was out and it was warm enough for me to bounce around in just my uwl jumper. I met an enormous amount of people yesterday. To begin with, on the bus to Blarney Castle i met some students on their spring break from Madison. The castle, btw, was gorgeous and while i didnt kiss the blarney stone (the locals told me they piss on it cuz they know the tourists kiss it! hehe) i thoroughly enjoyed the mid evil setting. (but leave it to me to have the battery on my camera fail! bah.. i guess i'll have to remember it)

After the castle I bummed around Cork a bit and found the Butter museum. While not super interesting... butter was and is a large part of the irish economy and history. At any rate, since it was St.Patrick's day weekend there were lots of street performers on the main drag. I headed back to the hostel around 5ish and met a guy from Eau Claire. We then proceeded to drink our faces off.

Wandering around a bit, we went into a bar that supposedly had live rock music. Upon entering we see that a quiz night is going on.. so we decided to wait till after that was over. Well, one thing lead to another and we found ourselves there for the night. I ran into some polish guys and some germans - and had my ass handed to me at foosball (although it wasnt a good table... so i blame that constantly). After awhile in the night the place was packed and a group of girls entered and immediately i knew they were from the us. So we hung out with these gorgeous girls from Kansas who were just starting their spring beaks.

To those of you who know me you wont be surprised at the fact that .. come bar time i tend to wander.... and this time wasn't any different. I wandered out of the bar and ran into some irish guys.
You're american? YEA... You like Bono?? um... HE's a WANKER! hah!- pretty cool guys. It ended up that i went with them as they drove around all drunk and crazy yelling at people on the street! hah! The range of "obscenities" consisted of things like Wanker! then speeding off and the other rather strange thing (in my opinion) was to yell out ABUSE! heh.. like instead of yelling something random at people they were yelling the word "abuse!" then speeding off

We drove around like this for bout 20 mins or so before they dropped me off at the bus station (blocks from my hostel). Like i said, irish hospitality knows no bounds!
I dropped off my email with them so maybe i'll hear from em - cool blokes

In the morning I hoped a bus for Kilarney and found the Neptune's hostel (with free internet.. =D ) Not a whole lot to do here.. and the food is quite expensive (9 Euros for fish and chips.. eeegads!) Luckly i had some parting gifts from the A-Team (health study tour 06 baby) that have kept me alive (it's a good thing).

Come to Ireland.. the land of the Irish and live like one!
