Sunday we drove to Cardiff and stayed at the Village hotel. It is a pretty ritzy joint it has a huge recreation center and full pool. Monday morning we had a chance to visit Neath and the surrounding burough for our health job shadowing experience. Enter near death experience.

While on the shoddy small tour bus, driving on clifs with a driver that appeared sober... a small indescretion occured. The bus hit the curb (to make sure it was still there?) and immediately started to jacknife! luckly he got control of it and was able to avoid a catastrophy. It was strange as he didnt say a word about it, but I do remember hearing a long series of clicks of the seat belts after that!

That night (Monday) Sanjay and I took the car out and had indian food. After that spicy episode we went to the pub near the hotel. Not suprisingly it wasnt a lively joint.. but one that was visited by the locals.
After one pint we decided to leave and find another joint. Apparently i'm a jinx or something as when we got into the car I mentioned to Sanjay "You know... I havent seen any cops around.. have you?" While pulling out of the pub the reply I hear is "yeah I have.. thers one following us now!"
The next thing I know i see the blue lights flashing and the cop waltzing up to the car.

"I just pulled you over cuz I saw you leaving the pub"
oh..
"Have you been drinking tonite?"#
yeah. just one pint.
"come with me please"
With that I remember the expression on Sanjay's face... it was priceless.. a combination of wonder and disbelief!
A few minutes later Sanjay saunters back.
Apparently 2 pints is the legal limit (.08) and since he only had one he was a-okay.
The funny thing is that the cop never asked for his name or anything. Apparently here you can get pulled over for absolutely no reason! (its a wonder why everyone walks home after the bars)

At any rate! That was pretty crazy so we only went to one more pub before heading back to the hotel!

This morning we got up and did the jobshadowing experience. Today was better than yesterdays... i learned a great deal about how the u.k. health system works and how the physicians interact with their patients.

Quite the eventful few days.. yeah?

La Crosse has snow also
Hi, don't feel so bad about the snow. Although we had one day of 63 degrees, we again have a winter watch warning with 5 -8 inches of snow. Al least you don't have to shovel. Ha. Sounds like you almost had a potentially bad accident. wow. Those incidents are always things we don't ever anticipate when one thinks of the other challenges in traveling. Thank goodness you are o.k. Sherry
