Buda Pest. Buda (west side of city) and Pest (east side) are separated by the Danube river. Wow... entering into budapest was something of a trip. We had taken the train from prague to Bratislava (in Slovikia ) for a day trip... followed by a few hour trin ride to budapest. The trainstation in budapest was quite as the books had described it. While it didnt look that bad, there was a lot of seedy characters there.

Shortly after stepin off the train I noticed a kid running full speed with a backpack on the platform next to me. Odd... well yeah when I saw that there was absolutely no train in sight. Within the next few seconds I saw a few tourists tryingto catch him... but he was long gone. The trainstations and the underground in budapest was filled with beds... and their drunken occupants! They tended to keep to themselves though.

Since we really were tired from the day we just went to the nearest hostel (nearest to the trainstation). That was an interesting journey. The book gave directions easily enough but the problem is with the actual streets. Labeling streets has never been eastern europe's strong suit.. and budapest was no exception. After about 15-20 mins we found the road we needed to be on... but the hostel was not labeled! We had to go to a few door entry ways to find the buzzer that said "aquarium hostel". Hah!

Needless to say we only stayed there one night.
