Where I stayed
Kon Tiki Bungalows
We are staying in our best accommodation so far, the amazing Kon Tiki Bungalows. We have lucked out here, we have an amazing sea view, our own en-suite bungalow, a private patio, complete with deck chairs and a hammock and a carefree lifestyle as always! The only issue is the bloody path we have to walk up and down to get up to the bungalows (see pic). We were originally only staying here for 5 days but once we arrived we swiftly extended it to 7 days.
We have largely been beaching it, with some of every day being spent lying in the sun on the sand, probably with a beer in hand, watching the mesmerising big surf. Glad to be back :D
We rented out body boards one afternoon, when you catch a wave you move fairly swiftly
The food here has been excellent, most days for lunch we will hit one of the many restaurants with an economy menu option, this is usually ceviche (raw fish) for starter followed by either chicharron (fried fish) or pasta etc. All of this, plus a drink for S/8 each (£2), bargain :D Dinner is usually a slightly more expensive affair, we have tried a number of the local restaurants and a decent size main for both of us usually comes to around £10 in total. Very cheap, happy days. There is also a wee vegetarian restaurant called Angela's Place that comes recommended in the Lonely Planet, excellent grub, we had the falafel sandwich and it was mega. That is 2 veggie restaurants in 1 week; fish, vegetables, we are letting Argentina down! Feels good to be back eating outside though.
One annoying thing about coming back into summer is the return of the dreaded mosquito
Unfortunately our last couple of days in Mancora were marred by both of us getting rather sick. Eilidh was first to be struck down by a common illness among travellers that I'm sure you don't want me to go into too much detail about, and I swiftly followed. Not pleasant in the slightest. This also meant we didn't get a chance to surf, but hopefully we will remedy that soon.
Our next stop is Vilcabamba in Ecuador, we are going to be staying at Le Rendez-Vous Hostal as we continue northwards. New country, yet another currency, a little bit easier to get our head round this time as its the U.S Dollar.
