There's nothing like waking up feeling COLD in the Philippines, and that is what happened last night. Cold, as in AC cold! Our casita had a air conditioner and we cranked it to the coldest temps we could. What an amazing night's sleep.
The rooms/beds were wonderful, however I still found myself in a bed sheet cocoon because there were still lizards. It really doesn't matter how nice a place is, a tropical island is a tropical island and those critters are everywhere.
We were up by around 8, which is sleeping in for us at this point. In Tacloban were up between 5 and 6 each day for work. Plus, when the sun rises at 4am its hard not to just wake up.
Breakfast was amazing. Our package at Kuting Reef included our meals (all-inclusive style) and boy were they good. Honestly, the best food I've had since I've been here. Afterwards, we hit the infitiy pool for a day of relaxation.
After lunch Anna, Heather, Allyson and I took the kayaks out to do some exploring. We went all around both sides of the resort. To the right we found a channel and multiple beaches. We got out and took some photos, watched crabs and searched for fish. To the left was a small reef where we saw more blue starfish, sea urchins, some Nemo's, Dori's and more colorful fish. We didn't leave the kayaks since there was no bank to get out on, but we did float around exploring the sea for quite a while.
A few notes:
I love kayaking
Black sand beaches don't do it for me aesthetically - would rather a white sand any day
I could eat garlic Asian noodles for every meal
