where to begin...
last night seems appropriate. heather and i headed down to blue ocean, a beautiful restaurant and bar right on the beach in legian. they have tables and chairs and these huge big day beds with a table in the middle that you just lounge around on - last time heather was there she saw the dude that played benji veniman on underbelly. they have an amazing band that plays the rolling stones and pink floyd. the lead singer is 62, and is EXACTLY like mike jagger down to his weird lips and hip thrusting.
we headed off back to the hotel, heather went to bed and i made friends with some aussies that were staying there, an older lady and her two sons and their two friends. after waking her son up at 5.30am as it was his 21st, we decided to head down to the beach on the motorbikes.
it had been raining all night, and as i walked down the FOOT HIGH STEPS (steps are ABNORMALLY large in bali) my leg slipped and i promptly fell down the remaining 10 or so steps. i've got a killer bruise on my back and am aching, but at least no one was around to see it!
wayne taught me how to ride a motorbike - at first i admit it was lucky it was 7am there was no one on the road. however, i kind of got the hang of it and i had an absolute blast! definitely need to practise my take offs, and practice in the quiet streets before thrusting myself amongst the billion kamikaze balinese road users, but wayan (the lady who's husband i'm renting the house off) said she would show me.
the day consisted of a two hour nap and moving into my new place (pics to come) and also heading to the hugest supermarket you have ever seen in your life. this place sells cigarettes and alcohol on the shelves, and has tvs electrical goods awesome laptops and everything else you could think of (apart from australian adaptors, apparently). all my shopping including fruit, veg, two pieces of fish, steak and pork (no chicken, it looked a bit anorexic) and clothes hangers, bathroom supplies etc cost me $75. so, for indo a pretty expensive shop but now i'm set up each week will be fine, not to mention i got a big tuna steak for $1.40
the supermarket is so huge the staff members wear rollerblades to increase efficiency, and they had 43 checkouts. if you think asians are bad at driving cars, you should try grocery shopping. when all weilding shopping trolleys in the rice aisle, carrefoure can be a VERY dangerous place. btw, smallest bag of rice i could get was 2kg, LOL
looking forward to having a decent sleep, at least 12 hours. i've slept about 8 hours since i've been here and barely eaten a thing, so its nice to finally have some creature comforts again.
not the most interesting blog entry but hey, i've had my seroquel and i'm exhausted! luv to you all - no vodkas this time, im detoxing!! xxx
