I rode the truck today and talked with the other riders who
were also on the truck due to illness or injury. The truck got stuck again
today this time crossing a dry river bed. It took 3 hours and several
truckloads of Sudanese guys to dislodge it.

I arrived at the Stone Village and we are camping on their
soccer field. I went into the village to get cold drinks. Three of us were led
by a little boy to his home where we were invited to sit down by his mother.
There were two women and eight children of various ages and an old man. The y
are happy and hospitable and despite hardly being able to talk we had a good
time. The mother shooed the the kids up to give us their seats and one of the
older girls brought water, bread and foule for us. Very generous.

Riders were beginning to arrive at camp telling horror
stories of the day. They said it was the longest, hottest, hardest ride of
their lives.

Rosalyn arrived at around 6 filthy and exhausted having
gotten lost and riding an extra 10km. She did an incredible 104km in the
scorching heat on nasty roads. Upon arrival she immediately went for a "donkey
shower". Locals had drums of water on carts pulled by donkeys and for 1 pound
would let you sit in a shallow tub while they siphoned water from the tank to
hose you down. Last day of off-roading tomorrow.
