My flight arrived at one airport that serves all international arrivals, so spent the night at a nearby hotel. However, my flight the next day would be leaving from the other airport across town which serves the low cost carriers and most domestic flights. So, back to the airport, get the airport shuttle to take me across town, then check into the hotel that is connected to the other airport.
While waiting for the shuttle to depart, this Australian started a conversation about the usual: where did you come from, where are you going, how long are you staying, etc. Then, he said to me, "I hope I don't offend you, but for someone your age....." This was in regard to combatting jetlag, and how people of a certain age like me just can't bounce back the way people his age can. He offered up suggestions on how someone my age, I never told him how old I was, could try to reduce the turnaround. For a foreigner, he sure knew the history of the US inside and out, his facts were right on, knew the order of the presidents, etc. When he said he admired Richard Nixon, I didn't take his earlier comment as an insult. After all, it's better to be old than stupid.
I tried to adapt to the time zone, tried to stay awake, but before I knew it, I had falled asleep at this second hotel.
