It was a day that was to see all modes of transportation being taken. Firstly it was the plane to Cebu Macan airport, then a taxi to the bus terminal, then a 4 and a half hour bus ride to the pier, to finally get on the ferry for an hour to hit Malapascua. I won't bore you with all the details as I've done this so many times now. What I was impressed with though, was the air con and wifi on the bus I was on. Eventually arriving the procedure was the usual and as follows..... You get your diving and accommodation touts who try to offer you the cheapest deal and that's exactly what I was in the market for, seeing as I hadn't booked a thing. Sometimes I guess when travelling, you have to play things by ear. Of course luck would have it I got an awesome deal in combination with location. I say this because anywhere you go, accommodation facing the beach is always more than the properties out back and we all want to face the beach right? Sometimes though on a backpackers budget, one has to resort to using one's imagination. This time around though I got a place that was a 20second walk to the beach on a side street for a reasonable deal. RESULT!

The owner was also a shopkeeper, whose shop was a 5 second walk from my place, so it was all good. Did the old running recognisance and could see that Malapascua would again be problematic in terms of trying to get a decent run in but again I've been here before and always manage to work it out. My first Philippine island. The beach was cool and so were the properties that sat outside them. Happy hour came in the for of two for one, so it was Blue Hawaii's all round and a decent meal - small portions though - as if I'm from Lillieput or the Shire but I spare complaining! Then after a brief chat with a lovely Korean chick whose name I won't even attempt to spell it was definitely an early night for me. Malapascua is mainly for diving but I was here to do nothing but get some rest bite for the madness that eventually was to come in the form of Borocay island - party town. So journey completed and that's that.
