9th August dawned with an easy start, tents away and a supermarket expedition for the girls. We stopped on our way out of Addis for our 3rd minor truck upset in 3 days - but each had been fairly minor so also sorted fairly quickly on the road side, whilst Greg grabbed some cakes for us all. We got into Sheshamene about 4pm where we stopped at the Black Lion Museum. I had been told this place was the home of the Rastafarian movement but what exactly that meant I was soon to be enlightened. We were told that Ras comes from King and Tafari was Haile Selaisse's name before he assumed that one. That he invited people over to Ethiopia and gave them land and essentially they created this group. It is their religion to smoke dope...and they grow it in their garden. The air was thick and the spliff's were being passed around. People can decide if I partook...based on if I'd have surprised people or not! We left as quite a merry bunch, and got to the hotel in Awassa in good time to pitch tents, get some food and a lovely warm shower. Watched an odd movie on TV and settled down to my tent. We had an early start in the morning if we were to make it to Moyale before the border shuts.
