. After a nice dinner and Peter the driver joining us...it was decided that a group of us were going to go to a local club (well we wanted to celebrate in my birthday and having the truck back). So at 12.05 we climbed on the back of motorbike/scooters - 2 to each (Jamie had the pleasure of me hanging on very tight - no pleasure i promise!) as we flew (well it felt like it to me) into the city centre to Capital a bar/meat market which Ronnie and peter liked. We were the only white people in there which attracted some stares to start with, we got drinks, played pool, danced and before we knew it it was 3am...with a suggested 7am start in the morning...most of us decided at that point to finish up drinks and head back to the Blue Mango...that is with the exception of Ronnie (he was doing well), Jamie...he had an admirer, and Peter (he wasn't going to leave Jamie). Got to bed about 4am...and at 6.30 Sara and i woke and started packing up our tent...at 7am most of us were awake, but greg announced that Jamie hadn't come back, at 7.15 Jamie and Peter walked back in... they'd had a great night, but no sign of Ronnie...so we all made sure the tents were packed and the truck was loaded...and still no sign of Ronnie...Peter said we could leave without him but no one seemed very keen on that...then at about 8.15 (by which time Jamie's 'friend' from the previous night had been allowed into the campsite and had told him she loved him...i think this freaked him some what!) Ronnie returned...he'd had his phone nicked so he'd overslept...Jamie got in the front of the truck with Ronnie and Peter and the rest of us piled in the back
. Me in a fantastic mood despite the lack of sleep...well everyone knows i love my birthday and today seemed no different.
We drove a towards the border...had two tyres blow...so spent almost 2 hours having those changed...had a break down (fuel injector...but they managed to sort it themselves within about an hour) and then we hit the border...now to say i was excited about having 2 passport stamps on my birthday as well as to have been in 2 countries on my birthday would be an understatement and would once again probably remind people of my enthusiastic character...but at least it meant i was enjoying the day. The only down side with all these delays to our day being that we didn't get into Eldoret until 8pm...so we voted for a meal in Eldoret at our old favourite (Will's Pub), then headed to our campsite where we didn't arrive until nearly 10pm...so i voted for an upgrade which sara didn't argue with so we had an ensuite Dorm with just Tracey, Sara, Kristy and me...and we were so tired we had all fallen asleep long before midnight...exited my birthday in a slightly different manner to the way it began!
Well we left Bunyonyi on the 29th at 9am with a long drive ahead of us...so we drove most of the day with a brief stop off for lunch at the equater. Where we had a demonstration of how the water goes anti-clockwise in one hemisphere...clockwise in the other...and straight down in the middle...quite cool if you ask me. Also my camera i left with Ronnie our guide whilst i popped to some rather nice toilets and i discovered on my looking at my photos when we were back on the bus that they had decided to take some 'artistic' shots in my absense...apparently Ronnie had no option but let them take them...hummm...don't think he's that innocent! We arrived in Kampala and went briefly to Garden City (the white shopping area of choice in the capital of Uganda) and then carried on to our campsite for the night. They don't have a huge amount of camping space so we were all very cosy with our tents and went to the bar for dinner (this is when i had a mild panic as i couldn't find my purse = but i'd just left it on the bus which luckily agreed to turn around and come back to us...as the truck was now on it's way to us so we had said goodbye to that)
