Our last blog, thanks for sticking with us on our mammoth journey. Enjoy the last read...

was our first day in Anaheim, staying in a pretty luxurious appartment. We awoke with one aim for the day - baseball!  The appartment is located literally in the parking lot of the angels baseball team, so the four of us headed over after watching a couple episodes of 'The OC'. We rocked up to the stadium a little late, but this worked out In our favour as we stumbled upon our very own angel in the form of a local cop. He quietly offered us tickets while standing  suspiciously in the shade of a nearby tree; we asked him "how much my good man" and he
replied, "free".  We couldn't believe our luck, and walked into the stadium feeling rather elated.  Our seats were right up in the heavens however, and we did miss the only home run of the game while scaling the endless stairs but it was a great day out. We felt like true americans with our chili cheese nachos and churros in hand, while singing along during the 7th inning stretch. Sadly the angels lost, 2-1 to the mariners. Super.

On returning to the appartment, we decided to head to the rooftop pool to see out the afternoon.  On arrival we felt like we'd walked onto a set from 'the OC' (which we had just seen another  episode of, incidently) as we were greeted by pumping music and a lot of 'cool' looking people. We felt well out of our depth, bringing out our white bodies and applying suncream. To
compensate for this and blend in slightly more, we decided to get in the pool with our shades on.  They just got wet and we couldn't really see much, but everyone was doing it so that makes us cool, right?!  After a quick dinner at a local pizzaria, it was time to chill out to a
film and get some kip.

We awoke late morning and headed straight to Denny's; Stef ordered the 'all you can eat pancakes' and immediately regretted it. We practically had to roll him home.  It was then back to Newport to finish up our time with the Larkins, massive thanks to Marian and Bayleigh for giving us their apartment for a couple of nights!  Our next stop was the mall where we made a couple more purchases before heading to the larkin household in time for tonna's birhday party.

Another chilled but fun day today - we went for some sightseeing down in Balboa Island, making
thr essential stop in the Balboa Candy Store before going furher along the coast to see Crystal Cove State Park and getting a shake at the 'Shake Shack' which overlooks the cove. Divine!  It was then back to the Larkins where we tried our hand at painting their upstairs living room under the guidance of Edward, our artist maestro.

We left with our extended party (Tonna, Edward, Kate, Lilly and later, Jake) for the OC county fair. On arrival we purchased our $25 wristbands which gave us access to all the rides and proved well worth our money.  We had an a action packed day, riding rollorcosters, log flumes, spinning things, and our personal favourite, Speed which was a real hair-raiser and perhaps shouldn't have been done immediately after lunch... After sauntering around looking a some of the exhibits we headed back to chez Larkins for dinner and more classic games of Ping Pong.

Our last full day of travelling, and my was it a good'un. It was time for Dan, Ollie and Tim to come good with their birhday present to Stef which was a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood! Had the three of us known the price of an entrance ticket these days, we wouldve thought twice  efore dishing out for this present.  Thankfully, we found a good deal with Coca Cola to save us some coin - happy birthday Stef!

The theme park was a quality day, we managed to get on every ride which we wanted and the highlight being the studio tour which included the new 3D King Kong show and for all those Desperate Housewives addicts out there you'll be jealous to hear that we got to drive down Wisteria Lane! We rounded off a great day with the Water World Show before getting some pizza - the last supper!  It really does feel bizarre to be returning home, and we became very nostalgic, reminiscing about all the great memories we've now got.  We were soon brought crashing down to earth again, as we hopped in our yellow beetle to get home only to discover it had a flat battery... Nice one. After a few failed attempts at a bump start and an hour wait, security finally arrived to give us a jump start and we were on our way once again!

Today we said a very sad goodbye to the larkins, who have been incredible to us from our arrival
at LAX over 2 weels ago.  You guys are the best!  We are now writing this sitting in LAX airport departure lounge, gate 23A to be precise.  It is with bittersweet feelings that we return home.  This trip has surpassed all of our expectations and it has been one of the most amazing  experiences of our lives that any of us have ever had.  I'm welling up, are you?!  But seriously, it has been an incredible journey full of fantastic hospitality and brilliant people, not least each   other!  Thanks to you guys for all your great comments and for keeping up with us and our  shenanigans. It's been a hoot!

For the last time, goodbye and big love from the crew:
