I never knew travel would be involved when following a count. Not to mention, a count with money. It seems there is almost no place this man hasn't been. This week we left Rome and visited Paris, Marseille again, and another place in France in which the name I cannot remember. I have never been out of the western hemisphere so these are all new travels to me, but it was also the count’s first visit to Paris as well. We were able to go there because while we were in Rome, we fell across Albert de Morcerf and saved him from some Italian bandits. Albert just happened to be the son of Fernand Mondego, one of the men who betrayed Edmond Dantes and sent him to his prison. Coincidence? I think not.
Back to Paris, we did not venture out to see too much of the city for we were constantly with Albert and his family (and did I mention that Fernand married Mercedes, who was Edmond’s fiancé before he left). The houses that we stayed at were beautiful and extravagant mansions. There were countless parties and everyone was dressed in exquisite gowns and wardrobes. I am running out of adjectives to describe how nice everything was. And the count, or Edmond Dantes, has all of his plans for revenge falling into order. We visited Marseille to take down Danglars, the other place I mentioned on which name was not mentioned to take down Villfort, and now he his planning his final attack in Rome on Fernand. It looks like we are closing in on a grand finale.
