Saturday 21st September: Paula spending the day with us and not going to work today. Walked to Joe's in 13th Street for morning coffee, not the same ambience as last year in the West Village. Markets in Broadway today.
Paula took us into 'Eataly' - an italian shop/restaurant that you can eat or buy almost anything you desire - just looking at this hour of the day. Continued wandering and found this display of an old service station set up with grass and sheep - will be there for a month. Ended up walking on the 'high line' - an old rail line which has been converted into a walkway above the city with greenery on either side, giving good views of each street as you pass above.

We had an appointment to meet Tamara & Carolynne (girls from Scenic tour) for lunch at 1pm in the Blue Ribbon Bakery Restaurant in the West Village, so hopped in a taxi to be on time and feet needed a rest by then. Lovely to catch up again and for them to meet Paula - sat downstairs near where they bake the bread in a nice quiet area away from the bar upstairs. All walked back to Paula's apartment, via Washington Park, where we chatted and rested - girls really tired trying to see all of New York before they leave for Santa Monica in the morning and then home to Melbourne.

Ice Hockey game tonight at 7pm at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn between the NY Islanders and NY Jersey Devils - fast and furious, interesting to watch - just wish we knew the rules (if there are any) - a couple of fights in the end and the refs just let them go for a certain time or until they hit the ice and then will march one or both off to the sin bin - crowd not as noisy as our footy crowds - I can imagine that Dockers crowd on Saturday - we were watching the score and printed commentary on the computer.  See West Perth and Mullewa are premiers in the other leagues and CV managed to get 4 points right across the board.
