We took a night train from Oslo to Stockholm. The berth was almost full with an Australian and two Swiss guys.

We made it to our host's (Ola) house. He was a nice guy who hosts many people. While we were there he had a Czech girl stay for two nights.

We took it pretty easy in Stockholm. We went fishing one afternoon (but didn't catch anything) and we watched three Stephen King movies at Ola's apartment (he's a big Stephen King fan).

We did manage to do some sightseeing. The most impressive thing we saw was the warship Vasa. In the 1600's Sweden wasn't the richest European country but the king wanted to compete so he had heavy taxes to support a large army and navy. In 1628 he launched the warship Vasa. It was a large ship with tons of cannons. On it's maiden voyage in sight of the harbor it sunk. 350 years later it was recovered. It is very well preserved and amaying to look at. The museum is very good because in addition to the awesome ship it has many exhibits about why the ship sunk and what life was like back then. It had some skeletons from the crew.

We saw the palace including the Swedish crown jewels. There was a free museum with armor, weapons, clothes, and coaches belonging to previous royalty.

We went fishing twice with no luck although we found a wonderful park with great view of the harbor.

On our last day we had the time for the ferry wrong and missed it. Fortunately we were able to take another one a few hours later although it didn't go straight to Helsinki, but that's another story.
