Bea missed the HD support group gathering at the Admiral Theater in West Seattle prior to Don leaving the city limits. Loretta got a good photo of the group she called the "NWHDSA Crew".
With all of the hoopla of last night at the Mariners game, Don decided to take a light day and walked only 16 miles today, stopping in Tukwila and getting a ride home for the night. That won't be possible on every night of this trip!
A few of us hardy souls gathered at the base of the Space Needle this morning at 6 am to see Don off. KING 5 TV News covered the event. It hurt my neck to try to get a view of the whole structure from there, so I took a photo of Sharon and Bea straining THEIR necks. Loretta gave a final pre-flight briefing and then Don was off to The Empire State Building with Bea and Cathy flanking him. (Cathy wanted so badly to accompany Don all the way to Spokane for the sake of her HD friend there, but circumstances wouldn't allow it.) I tried taking a few photos of the Space Needle receding behind the walkers, but we were all interrupted by Bea's accident. The next photo I got was of Bea in the Harborview emergency room waiting for her cast to be put on. She was a real trouper, as you can see, and gladly paid the price for glory. (Of course, the morphine helped some.)
