Last day on the EcoFarm. The girls and I helped Kaye steal the honey from her hive. The smoke is used to stone the bees- pretty funny to see them fall over, but they'll be ok. Covered the kitchen in honey extracting it from the trays with Kaye and Joe's home-modified spinner. Then it's strained and bottled. Not too hard. We didn't have time to squeeze the honeycomb through cheesecloth to get all the last bits, but we did eat heaps as we worked and chewed on the wax. It tastes just like that wax the orthodontist used to give you when you had braces- blast from the past!
I'll really miss the goats and chickens, Kaye and her clean living! She gave us a vege leftover smorgasbord for dinner last night. Amazing how different you can make the same 5-6 core ingredients taste. I have a lot of practicing to do!
Kaye, thanks for a wonderful week and the yummy present from the bees. I'm wishing you much success with the EcoFarm- check out where I've been: http://www.ecoeducation.com.au
